Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn - Destination Guide

Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn

THE AUSTRIAN FREERIDE MECCA -
FACES, LINES & UNTRACKED POWDER

Freeride means more than just making a trail in the snow. Freeride means feeling freedom when you hear the powder crunching under your skis. Freeride gets the adrenaline pumping in your body as soon as you catch sight of the slope you're about to ski. And it also means the feeling of happiness you feel after the perfect run. The Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn is considered a true freeride mecca. Countless off-piste skiing options combine with the breathtaking backdrop of the surrounding mountains. Faces, lines and untracked powder - that's freeriding at the Home of Lässig!

"Easy up - Wild down" is the motto of the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. Thus, 70 modern lifts open up fascinating deep-snow slopes to freeride fans - and all this without long ascents. Fieberbrunn is considered the absolute hot spot of the freeride scene here. Here, the powder snow and the dreamlike deep snow slopes are powdered to the max. Also because of the excellent infrastructure: state-of-the-art equipment for rent, guides for the ultimate off-piste kick, courses for beginners and advanced skiers. With the help of the cable cars & lifts or sometimes a short hike, it is very easy to get into uncontrolled terrain in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. The conditions here are ideal: on the one hand a ski area with wild contours, on the other extensive deep snow slopes.

Freeride World Tour

The Freeride World Tour (FWT) will also make a stop in Fieberbrunn in winter 2022/23. The freeride mecca Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn hosts the tour's only stop in the German-speaking region. Since 2011, the steep and rocky north slope of the Wildseeloder has been a fixture on the FWT calendar, and it is here that the preliminary decision in the fight for the World Cup titles will be made. The world's best freeriders have to climb around 40 minutes to the summit of the Wildseeloder before they plunge into the 620-metre slope from the start at 2,118 metres. There they overcome a slope gradient of up to 70 degrees. Those who want to stay in the title fight have to overcome this slope. In addition to the legendary competitions, visitors can expect an extensive supporting program throughout the week.

Danish Freeride Championships

Also the Danish Freeride Championships take place at the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. Be there live when up to 130 fearless Danish freeriders battle it out on the challenging slopes around the Wildseeloder in Fieberbrunn to be crowned Danish champion. Besides the Freeride World Tour, this is the second major freeride event in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn.

Freeride Testival

There will be plenty of freeride action at the Freeride Testival on March 11 and 12. On the Testival weekend, unlimited equipment (skis, snowboards, helmets, goggles, backpacks, avalanche transceivers, etc.) from the leading manufacturers can be tested free of charge and without obligation. The best thing about it: the equipment is mostly already from the next season 2023/24 and therefore brand new. In addition to the equipment tests, various side events such as workshops, courses and safety trainings await the participants, where they can improve their powder skills. Experienced freeriders can discover new and unknown terrain with local guides. Freeride beginners have the opportunity to take their first steps off-piste under the guidance of professionals.

Safety first!

However, also "Safety First" takes an important place! With various camps, workshops, check points, avalanche transceiver search fields for practicing and the wide-ranging offers of local ski schools and mountain guides, the Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn ski circus provides numerous opportunities for freeriders of all ages and skill levels to adequately prepare for off-piste skiing.
