GLOBE COMMITS TO THREE YEAR GLOBE PRO FIJI SPONSORSHIP
COOLANGATTA, Australia (Friday, June 8, 2007) –Globe International today announced that it has signed an agreement with the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) to conduct the Globe Pro Fiji for another three year period commencing May 2008.
Globe sponsored the fourth stop on the Foster’s ASP World Tour in 2005 and 2006, and will be bringing the world’s best surfers back to the Fijian islands of Tavarua and Namotu in 2008.
“Globe is delighted to be able to return to Fiji next year,” Globe CEO Matt Hill said. “The Globe Pro Fiji is one of the greatest surfing events in the world and the breaks of Cloudbreak and Restaurants are revered as some of the most perfect waves on the ASP circuit.
“To be able to commit to this event for three years is a clear indication of the importance of this event to Globe and as a dedicated boardsports company, this is a great event for us to support,” Hill said.
ASP CEO Brodie Carr said that to have Fiji back on the calendar was outstanding news.
“I know that the surfers rate the Globe Pro Fiji as one of the jewels in the crown on the Foster’s ASP World Tour,” Carr said. “In 2005, the event was voted by competitors as the best in the world and now to know that it will be on again next year, is just awesome.”
The Globe Pro Fiji will feature the world’s Top 45 surfers and three wildcards contesting one of the world’s most critical waves by day and enjoying the penultimate island paradise by night.
