Snowboard - NOKIA world cup Results
Heidi Neururer
Austrian snowboarders triumph in Limone Piemonte: At the debut of the Italian winter sport resort as World Cup host, Heidi Neururer and Manuel Veith have won their career’s first NOKIA Snowboard FIS World Cup Parallel Giant Slalom. In the ladies’ final, the 28-years-old current PSL World Champion successfully competed against 2007 PGS Gold medallist Ekatarina Tudigescheva from Russia and therefore was able to extend her World Cup lead. The Tyrol racer (2.600) is now leading by 900 points ahead of Nicolien Sauerbreij (NED, 1.700) who had to accept defeat against Italy’s Carmen Ranigler in the battle for third.
Besides Neururer’s victory Manuel Veith came first in the men’s legue, so it was a double up victory for Austria.
Limone Peimonte’s debut as a World Cup host was also successful.
The currently fastest women Heidi Neururer was all smiles as she was able to get rid of a ‘ban’: “So far, I was the Slalom Queen and nobody had expected that I ever would be able to win a Parallel Giant Slalom. Today, a dream came finally true. The whole day I was nervous but fortunately I wasn’t on the slope.”
Carmen Ranigler
Carmen Ranigler, ITA, Third:
“It was important for me to place third today because I felt a lot of pressure to make it on the podium in my home country. I’m so stoked that I made it. The audience was fantastic. Every time I crossed the finish line, they were making a hell of a rumpus. It was fantastic.”
