Stephanie Gilmore vinder PRO HAWAII
Stephanie Gilmore, på 20 år, er den stolte vinder af Roxy Pro Hawaii, som netop har været afholdt på Sunset Beach. Konkurrencen har foregået i perioden 24. nov til 6. dec.
Roxy Hawaii Pro er, som det andet stop på kvindernes Vans Triple Crown of Surfing og event i ASP World Championship tour, en vigtig konkurrence som nogle gange er med til at afgøre hvem der bliver World Champion. Og med en extra høj præmie sum i år på 85.000 dollars, har der været masser at kæmpe om.
Stephanie Gilmore scorede hendes anden ASP Women’s World Titel i træk med en eftertrykkelig sejr ved Roxy Pro på Sunset Beach, hvor hun rippede 1,5 meter høje bølger ved Sunset Point for at vinde over medfinalisterne Silvana Lima (BRA), 24, Jessi Miley-Dyer (AUS), 22, og Nicola Atherton (AUS), 22.
“I had no idea this was going to happen today when I woke up this morning,” siger Gilmore. “Sofia (Mulanovich) went down and then Layne (Beachley) went down and I found myself in the Final with a chance to clinch it. It feels unbelievable.”
Gilmore’s position er slået fast med syvtommersøm efter to ASP women’s world titel sejre i træk i de to år hun har været med member af touren.
“The second one definitely feels better than the first one,” siger Gilmore. “I’m going to savor this one for a while and then readjust my goals for next year. There should be big celebrations on for tonight.”
