The Battle is getting closer, and it’s less than two months to go to the final counting. The snow machines are running and preparations have been well started. The Battle is on!

The Battle presented by Rip Curl will hit it’s home ground, Falun 17-19th of March.
The most progressive riding and the sickest park – the Battle is gonna rock again this year!
The event itself has been expected to gather a public of 15.000 again and even the King of Sweden will be on place!

The Battle presented by Rip Curl will also be seen live on both competition days (18-19th of March) on www.thebattle.info .

The totally new format of competition – the Nations’ Cup – will gather eleven different nations together from all over the world. This year all countries will be presented as their own teams, instead of continents. Sweden, Finland, Norway, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, New Zealand, Japan, USA and Canada + the Nation’s team, collected from the winning riders from TTR QE events, will all be presented. Some of the best riders in the world will be taking part to the event and snowboard legends such as Terje Haakonsen (NOR), Ingemar Backman (SWE), Andy Finch (USA), Nicolas Droz (FRA) and Quentin Robbins (NZ) have already signed as the Team Captains for their own countries. Kim Christiansen won his place to the Nations’ team through “the Scandinavian Open Slopestyle Championship” held in Drammen, Norway, early January.

“I’m super excited with the fact that the Battle will be back in my hometown. After all this is where the Battle belongs! A few years ago the Military area in Falun was shut down. And now the Battle will move into the old caserns close to Lugnet arena. Although it’s sad to leave the old prison behind this will give us the chance during the Battle week to create our own village here with parties, miniramps, restaurants and plenty of space to play around.

I really think that the new format”The Nations’ Cup” will boost the competition side of the event with 11 Nations competing against for the title The Best Nation 2005. The teams are filling and I believe we will have one of the strongest starting fields ever with Team Captains like Terje, Ingemar, Steve Gruber, Andy Finch, Nico Droz choosing their teams. The park plans looks more than interesting and the new tunnel quarter feature will definitely be a rider and crowd pleaser.

For me the Friday night session has always been the best session and this year this night will be qualification for the Saturday semifinals and final. All in all its all looking good so I hope to see you all in Falun in March.”
