Endelig Bølger På Vej!

NAB Beachley Classic i Manly ved Sydney er været ”called off” pga. totalt fladt vand. Dog ser det ud til at weekenden vil byde på fantastiske bølger til verden 17 bedste kvindelige surfere!

“We weren’t supposed to see this southerly change until tomorrow which is sort of a positive thing. It means we should start to see the arrival of new swell this afternoon instead of tomorrow morning, which sets us up for quite a good weekend.” Udtaler director Matt Wilson.

Nu hvor vejrudsigten tegner lysere forventer arrangørerne af stop nr. 5 ud af 8 på kvindernes World Tour at kunne køre de sidste 15 heats under gode forhold.

Wilcard surfer Sally Fitzgibbons fyrer den af!

“At this stage we’re looking at a Sunday finish, unless tomorrow is really epic. We are expecting a strong offshore breeze but if we get a slight swing in the easterly direction, it could push some swell in which would mean waves of up two 2 metres rolling into Manly over the next two days.” Siger Wilson.

7X ASP World Champion Layne Beachley (AUS) (som også har lagt navn til eventen!) ser frem til den begivenhedsrige weekend. Alle ser frem til at se hende udfolde sig med wildcart surferen Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS) I 3. runde.

Beachley styrer det hele med hård hånd!

“This week has flown by, I can’t believe its Friday and we’ve only run two rounds. Everything has run smoothly so far, I think because we knew what we were in for and with promising swell on the horizon, I am confident we’ll see good waves at the weekend.” Siger Beachley.

På lørdag vil også Beachley Classic Radical Fitness Day falde af stablen. En sjov dag for alle der har lyst til at komme og teste deres styrke og fitness level.

Søndag vil man desuden kunne opleve en håndfuld af Australiens kendte ansigter deltage i en masse aktiviteter på stranden til fordel for Aim for the Stars som er en organisation startet af Layne Beachley i 2003. I would have walked away from all of this! That’s why I set up the charity to prevent girls from walking away from their dreams.” Siger Beachley.

NAB Beachley Classic har blot brug for én hel dag med bølger for at kunne afsluttes. Næste Call er i morgen lørdag kl.7.30.

NAB Beachley Classic kører fra 9- 14 Oktober, og har en pengepulje på US$ 100 000 plus en 20% bonus ASP ratings points.

Eventen er produceret af Layne Beachley i samarbejde med National Australia Bank og the Association of Surfing Professionals.
